Trip Overview

This is a fully guided 5-day public land rifle elk hunt conducted on a dedicated 1 hunter to 1 guide basis. Hunts take place across some of Northern New Mexico's premier elk units, including 2A, 2B, 2C, 5A, 5B, 6A, 6B, 6C, and 7.

Hunters will pursue mature bulls across vast expanses of National Forest and BLM lands using spot-and-stalk tactics, calling strategies, and years of local knowledge developed by Rancho Rojo's experienced guides. Terrain ranges from rolling foothills to rugged mountain country, with elevations generally ranging from 6,500 to 9,500 feet.

These are draw hunts conducted on National Forest and BLM lands. Hunters may apply through New Mexico's Outfitter Draw Program, and Rancho Rojo can assist with the application process. New Mexico applications for big game species are typically due in mid-March, with draw results generally released in late April. Rancho Rojo Guides and Outfitters can assist hunters with the application process through the New Mexico Outfitter Draw Program to help maximize draw opportunities.
