Trip Overview

Ambush Waterfowl's Dove hunts put you in the middle of some of the best wing shooting Texas has to offer. We hunt field edges, stock tanks, sunflower and milo fields, and water holes across West Texas — locations scouted and rotated throughout the season to keep birds moving and shooting consistent. Hunters are placed in natural cover or portable blinds along known flight lines, with guides positioned to maximize shooting opportunities for every gun in the group.

The Texas Dove season runs in three segments, with the early season kicking off September 1st — one of the most anticipated days on the hunting calendar. The daily limit is 15 mourning doves or white-winged doves, or a combination of both. All hunters must have a valid Texas hunting license and federal HIP certification. We recommend a 12 or 20 gauge with improved cylinder or modified choke and standard lead shot. Hunts are guided and include field scouting, placement, and post-hunt assistance. Licenses, shells, and accommodations are the hunter's responsibility. With Texas's warm early-season temperatures, lightweight breathable camo and plenty of water are a must.

Why Hunt With Us?

Texas dove hunting lives and dies by scouting, and that's where Ambush Waterfowl earns its reputation. Our guides are on the ground before the season opens, locating the feed fields, water sources, and roost trees that birds are using right now — not relying on spots that produced last year. That legwork translates directly into action in the field, with consistent shooting from first light through the evening flight.

Our private land access sets us apart. We've built long-standing relationships with landowners across the region, giving us permission to hunt ground that never sees public pressure. Groups are kept intentionally small so every hunter gets quality shooting lanes and personal attention from the guide. Whether you're bringing a group of first-time bird hunters or seasoned wingshooters looking for a high-volume day, Ambush Waterfowl puts you in the right place at the right time — and makes sure you leave with birds in the bag and a reason to come back.
