Kansas archery season opens September 15 and runs through December 31, and this early window is one of the most exciting times of the entire season. With limited hunting pressure and bucks still locked into late-summer feeding patterns, this hunt provides a strong opportunity to encounter highly patternable deer—and in some cases, a chance at harvesting a buck still carrying velvet. Kansas is a draw state for non-resident archery tags. Applications must be submitted during the designated state application period (typically in April), and hunters are responsible for securing their tag through the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks prior to the hunt.
