Trip Overview

West Kentucky Buck Company offers a rare opportunity to pursue velvet whitetail bucks during the opening days of Kentucky archery season, one of the most exciting and sought-after whitetail hunts in North America. These hunts take place during the first four days of the September archery season, opening September 5, when mature bucks are still in velvet and following highly predictable summer feeding patterns.

With access to over 8,500 acres of carefully managed Western Kentucky habitat, hunters have the chance to target bachelor groups of mature bucks traveling between bedding areas and late-summer food sources. Early-season velvet hunts are known for consistent deer movement and the possibility of encountering giant whitetails before hunting pressure and fall pattern changes begin to influence their behavior.

Guests arrive at camp the day before the hunt begins and depart the day after the final hunting day, providing four full days of hunting opportunity during this prime early-season window. These hunts are extremely limited and often book well in advance due to the unique chance to harvest a mature Kentucky buck in full velvet.

This past season, our clients experienced a 75% opportunity rate and a 50% success rate. We specialize in putting hunters in position for the buck of a lifetime, and the excellent whitetail habitat and strong deer populations found in Kentucky give us the opportunity to consistently provide those chances.
